From friends to friendly: Anticipate change as the new boss

Some friendships remain solid when one person becomes the other’s boss. Maintenance requires good communication and firm boundaries, and acknowledging challenges from the get-go helps. Do not be surprised, though, if the nature of the bond moves from “friends” to “friendly.”
